Classified by temperature:

Medium temperature cold storage: designed with a temperature range of 5 ℃~-5 ℃, commonly used for storing meat, aquatic products, etc.
Low temperature cold storage: Designed for temperatures ranging from -18 ℃ to -25 ℃, it can be used for frozen food, industrial testing, medical and other special purposes.
Ultra low temperature cold storage: The design temperature is -45 ℃~-60 ℃, suitable for the storage of some special items and industrial testing.
Quick freezing warehouse: designed with a temperature range of -35 ℃ to -40 ℃, mainly used for rapid freezing of food.
Freshness preservation warehouse: designed with a temperature range of 5 ℃~-2 ℃, usually used for the preservation of fruits and vegetables, also known as controlled atmosphere warehouse.

Productive cold storage: It has a large refrigeration processing capacity and cold storage capacity, usually built in food production areas, and is used for long-term storage of food after initial processing.
Distributed cold storage: generally built in large and medium-sized cities, water and land transportation hubs, etc., used to receive and store frozen and processed food.
Retail cold storage: built in industrial and mining enterprises or large urban grocery stores and markets for temporary storage of retail food.
Transit cold storage: a type of cold storage facility built on a water conservancy hub, used to receive food transported from a productive cold storage facility, store it for a short period of time, and then transport it. Another type is built in fishing bases, with strong freezing capacity, and plays an intermediate transportation role before aquatic products enter the market.

Classified by structural form:
Civil cold storage: The main structure of the building is a reinforced concrete frame structure or a brick concrete structure, which can be built as a single or multiple story.
Covered with soil cold storage: also known as earthen kiln cave cold storage, constructed with bricks and stones as the structure and a certain thickness of loess as the insulation layer.
Cave cold storage: The equipment is applied in rocky caves, using natural rock layers as insulation layers.
Jacketed cold storage: An inner jacket structure is added to the enclosure structure of a conventional cold storage, and cooling equipment is loaded inside the jacket. Cold air circulates inside the jacket.
Prefabricated cold storage: Except for the ground, all components are prefabricated in a professional factory according to a unified standard, and then assembled on the construction site.

Large cold storage: with a nominal capacity greater than 20000m ³.
Medium sized cold storage: nominal capacity ranging from 5000m ³ to 20000m ³.
