What is the function of the condenser?

1、 Core role

Cooling and liquefied refrigerants

Cool the high-temperature and high-pressure gaseous refrigerant discharged from the compressor into liquid form, and release the heat to the environment (air or water) through heat sinks or pipes.
For example, the refrigerant in air conditioning is cooled from a high temperature of 80 ℃ to around 50 ℃ in the condenser, while completing the phase transition from gas to liquid.

Maintain refrigeration cycle

As the "bridge" of the refrigeration system, it ensures that liquid refrigerant can enter the evaporator through the expansion valve, absorb heat, and re vaporize to form a complete cycle.

Industrial sector

Power plant: Condense the steam discharged from the turbine, recover the working fluid water, and improve energy conversion efficiency.
Petrochemical industry: control reaction temperature, separate distillation products.

Household equipment

Air conditioning/refrigerator: maintains internal low temperature through condenser heat dissipation, and its efficiency directly affects energy consumption.
3、 Condenser type and heat dissipation method

Air-cooled type

Dependent on natural or forced air convection (such as fans), suitable for small air conditioning outdoor units.

Water cooled type

Utilizing the high thermal conductivity of water, it needs to be used in conjunction with a cooling tower for circulation, making it suitable for high-power refrigeration systems.

Mixed type

Combining water and air cooling to balance cost and efficiency is common in rural or suburban areas.
4、 Fault impact and maintenance

The consequences of poor heat dissipation

The cooling effect of the air conditioner decreases, and the temperature in the engine compartment increases, resulting in a decrease in power and an increase in fuel consumption.

Maintenance suggestions

Regularly clean the surface of the condenser (such as blowing with compressed air), check the fan and refrigerant pressure.
