What are the precautions for using a combustion furnace?

1、 General safety principles

Ventilation requirements

When using a combustion furnace, it is necessary to maintain good indoor ventilation to avoid the accumulation of carbon monoxide.
The chimney needs to be regularly cleaned of accumulated dust, and there should be no air leakage at the interface. The height and diameter of the chimney should meet the standards (it is recommended that the chimney cap be at least 50cm away from the chimney mouth).

Fire distance

Flammable materials are prohibited from being stacked within 1 meter around the furnace, and isolation measures must be taken for high-temperature areas of the furnace body.

Fuel management

Use qualified fuel (such as clean coal that needs to be added in layers with a gap of 3-5cm), and prohibit mixing with coal powder or flammable liquids.
Gas fired combustion furnaces need to check for interface leaks (soap water detection method).
2、 Standard operating procedures

Ignition and combustion

Clean coal needs to be ignited with chopped wood first, and then coal can be added after the fire is stable to avoid extinguishing due to low furnace temperature.
When the gas stove fails to ignite, continuous ignition is prohibited, and the battery or ignition needle status should be checked first.

Firepower regulation

When turning down the gas stove, the knob should be turned counterclockwise to prevent gas leakage.
Before sealing the coal furnace, it is necessary to clean the furnace ash, close the air inlet door, and adjust the size of the ventilation hole.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regularly clear the fire hole (toothpick cleaning), remove oil stains and carbon deposits.
The gas stove needs to check the aging condition of the hose every month and replace the long-life hose (in accordance with GB55009-2021 standard).
3、 Emergency response

Carbon monoxide poisoning

Immediately open the window for ventilation, transfer the patient to a well ventilated area, call 120, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Fire disposal

Equip with fire extinguishers or fire-resistant sand, and prioritize covering solid fuel fires with sand.
4、 Special scenario precautions

Outdoor combustion furnace

The card furnace must comply with the GB/T 38522-2020 standard, with a gas cylinder volume of ≤ 990mL and a flameout protection device.
The firewood stove should be kept away from the tent to avoid sparks splashing.

Industrial incinerator

Check the sealing, sensors, and power supply lines before starting, and monitor temperature and smoke emissions during operation.

Tip: It is recommended to install self closing valves and alarms for gas equipment, and coal furnace users should regularly check the sealing of the flue.
